Education Law Association Textbook Covers

The Brief
Create a cover for A Guide to Special Education Law AND The Principals Legal Handbook that would feel consistent with the Education Law Association’s existing textbook collection while standing out in a crowded academic marketplace. The design needed to communicate professionalism, clarity, and authority while making the subject matter feel approachable and visually engaging.

The Creative Strategy
I developed a distinctive visual system that balanced the credibility of an academic legal publication with a more contemporary, eye-catching approach. Clean typography and a clear hierarchy kept the complex subject matter easy to navigate, while bold graphic elements created visual impact and helped the book stand apart from traditional textbook covers. The design also followed the established visual language of the Education Law Association to create consistency across the broader collection.

The Outcome
The final cover created a strong balance between brand consistency and individual shelf appeal, giving A Guide to Special Education Law a recognizable place within the Education Law Association’s textbook collection while helping it stand out among competing academic publications. The result was a professional, clear, and contemporary cover that made a complex subject feel more approachable.
